Imitation shell sample photography is being replaced with individual shots — every photo will match its size, finish and part number. Ask us for current photos of this family and we will send them the same day with the spec sheet.
What goes wrong
Three failures we test for before bulk
- Pearl layer peeling after wash. The coating lifts at the rim and the customer sees a white edge on a dark shirt.
- Surface scratches in transit. Buttons rub against each other in the polybag and arrive with hairline marks.
- Confused with natural shell. The buyer expected shell, received imitation, and the claim lands on you.
Each of these is a claim on your P&L, not a technical detail. We test the condition your care label specifies and put the result in writing before production starts.
Buyer questions
Imitation shell — FAQ
Will the pearl finish peel in washing?
We run adhesion and wet-rub tests on the approved finish. If the garment is washed at high temperature or with harsh chemicals, tell us at inquiry and we test to that condition.
How do I explain imitation shell to my buyer?
We provide a one-page product sheet with material, finish and care instructions you can forward — clear labelling avoids a claim later.
Is it nickel-free?
Yes. These are resin buttons with no metal components; nickel-release testing is not applicable, and we state that in writing for your compliance file.
Can imitation shell be laser engraved?
Yes, on the matte variant. On high-lustre finishes we recommend printing to protect the surface.
